SsangYong named the Official Tow Partner of the Melbourne Boat Show 2023

This year SsangYong teamed up with the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) as the Official Tow Vehicle of the Melbourne Boat Show.

Now in its 61st year, there was something for everyone, with an amazing showcase of boats and watercraft for fishing, cruising, sailing, lifestyle, jet skiing, waterskiing and wakeboarding.

There were more than 80 exhibitors over 3 days from 27–29 October 2023. Docklands’ New Quay Promenade and Harbour Esplanade in Melbourne was a fan-fair of dream machines and fishing and boating goodies on display for Melburnians to enjoy, inspect, purchase and even take for a test pilot in the harbour! There was information about boats, fishing, outboards, inboards, fishing tackle, trailers, towing, how to tow, boating careers, marine recreational activities, on water boat trials, main stage entertainment, and a range of food trucks. Not forgetting the information made available for all show attendees about towing your pride and joy with the official tow vehicle – the SsangYong Rexton and SsangYong Musso.

On display at the SsangYong stand were the newest arrivals to join the range of large SUVs and 4x4 dual cab utes. The MY24 range includes features and styling updates across the lineup, including the massive 12.3-inch Smart Audio touchscreen for both Rexton and Musso, and the new Rexton Sport edition with shadow chrome styling.

Steve Walker, CEO of the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) said:

“BIAV was absolutely delighted with the prominent SsangYong display and presence at the show. Victoria’s 200,000 registered boats are 95% tow vehicle reliant, so the boat show audience lapped up the Musso and Rexton display.”

“SsangYong is a great fit for the boating industry, which itself is very much tow vehicle reliant, as well as the wider boating community. We welcome the new partnership and look forward to seeing many more SsangYong vehicles at our Victorian boat ramps.”

“Merv Hughes was an extremely popular addition to the 2023 Melbourne Boat Show. As well as a couple of great stage interviews, he chatted with visitors about boating and fishing, and also about his own SsangYong and how it suits his boating/fishing lifestyle.”

Our brand ambassador Merv Hughes spent some time with us at the SsangYong stand to talk about the Rexton and the Musso. Merv also took to the main stage to share some fishing stories of his own from the Merv Hughes Fishing Show, now in its 9th season which premiers on 3rd December 2023 on 7mate.

Steve Dimitrovski, National Marketing Manager for SsangYong Australia said:

“It was a great turnout, and a great event. One of the best events in Melbourne.”

“We couldn’t have partnered with a better association, and we are thrilled to be the official tow vehicle for the BIAV. We are already looking forward to next year’s show. Congratulations to a well organised event.”

This year’s Melbourne Boat Show was a huge success with 42,000+ attendees, up significantly on previous attendance.

We’re looking forward to what’s in store for 2024.
